How to Configure GSX Gizmo to use Windows Authentication Access to the SQL Database

This article explains how to configure GSX Gizmo Services to use Windows Authentication when connecting to the Gizmo SQL database.

Instructions

Here we are going to change the logon properties used by the GSX Gizmo Services from Local System to a Windows user:

  1. Launch Services.msc
  2. Double-click on the GSX Gizmo Robot Manager Proxy Windows Service to open its properties.
  3. Click the Log On tab and select This account.
  4. Enter valid Windows credentials using an account that has access to the Gizmo SQL database:

  5. Click OK.
  6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the following two GSX Gizmo Windows Services:
    • GSX Gizmo Analytics Web API Service
    • GSX Gizmo Analytics Service
  7. Restart the three GSX Gizmo Windows Services.
    • You should now have the three GSX Gizmo Windows Services running as a Windows user instead of Local System:

Updating the GSX Gizmo configuration:

  1. From the GSX Gizmo station, browse to http://localhost:9005/#db.
  2. Enable the Use Windows Service credentials option:
  3. Click the Test Database Connection button:
  4. You should see a successful popup message:
  5. Save the configuration changes by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the page:

GSX Gizmo Windows Services are now configured to use Windows Authentication to access to the SQL database.
